NoCot farmer nabbed for illegal firearms possession

COTABATO CITY -- Cops arrested a farmer for possession of two illegal firearms in Aleosan, North Cotabato early Wednesday.

Senior Insp. Arvin John Cambang, Aleosan police chief, identified the arrested suspect as Eduardo Gonzales, 53, of Sitio Sampaguita, Barangay Katalicanan, Aleosan.

Armed with a search warrant issued by a regional court in Kabacan, North Cotabato, a team of law enforcers of the Aleosan and North Cotabato police offices pounced on the suspect who was caught flat-footed at his home.

“The suspect was surprised to see policemen surrounding his house,” Cambang said.

Seized from the suspect were a 12-gauge shotgun, a .45-caliber pistol, and ammunition.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition are being readied against the suspect who is currently detained inside the Aleosan police lockup. (PNA)
