Betonio lone survivor of Davao boxing team in Palaro

DAVAO CITY – Christian Betonio proved to be the lone survivor among the Davao Eagles boxers during the first day of action in the 2019 Palarong Pambansa at the Davao City Recreation Center (Almendras Gym) here on Monday.

Betonio beat Bryan Miguel Ortiala of Region 4A in the Youth Boys flyweight (52kg). Two members of the Davao Eagles boxing team, however, suffered defeats.

Raymund Albupera was stopped in the first round by Mark Jeson Solano of Region 12 in the Youth Boys light flyweight (46-49kg).

Alexis Dagaang lost to Jehssam Anthony Lagutap of National Capital Region in the School Boys light flyweight (48kg).

Meanwhile, Regions 10 and 6 both had two wins. Aaron Jude Bado and Mark Lester Durens scored for Region 10 while Adrian Braulio and Joenel Francisco starred for Region 6.

Bado beat Nathaniel Dorona (Region 9) in the schoolboys light flyweight (48k) while Durens outpunched Ar Jay Bagro (National Capital Region) in the Youth Boys light flyweight (46-49kg).

On the other hand, Braulio stunned Sanny Villano (Region 5) in the schoolboys light flyweight (48k) while Francisco crushed Alec Xandrine Bonita (Region 7) in the Youth Boys light flyweight (46-49kg). (PNA)
