Woman, 3 others killed in Nueva Ecija buy-bust

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija -- Four persons, including a woman, were killed in a buy-bust operation in Purok Mampulog, Barangay Bitas here Saturday.

Lt. Col. Ponciano Zafra, Cabanatuan City police chief, identified two of the suspects as Rizza Fernando and Paul Santos, both of legal age and residents of Bella Vita Subdivision, Sta. Arcadia, also of this city.

Investigators have yet to determine the identities of the two others.

Zafra said the poseur-buyer bought suspected shabu using two marked PHP500 bills from the suspects when they sensed that they were transacting with a policeman and suddenly opened fire "but missed."

"Our operatives returned fire hitting the suspects causing their instantaneous death," he said.

Forensic investigators recovered from the suspects four big packs and 10 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP408,000, the marked money, one caliber 9mm pistol, one .45-caliber pistol and two .30-caliber revolvers.

Police also seized an Asian Utility Vehicle (TLU 888) and a motorcycle used by the suspects during the operation. (PNA)
