Construction of LRT1 Cavite extension commences

BACOOR CITY, Cavite, May 31 (PIA) – The construction of the LRT1 Cavite extension recently commenced after its initial groundbreaking ceremonies two years ago.
 
The event was attended by Congressman Strike Revilla and then-Parañaquecity mayoral candidate Edwin L. Olivarez and officers of the Department of Transportation.
 
The project was awarded to the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) five years ago with estimated cost of P64.9-billion and is projected to be completed and operational on October 2021.
 
It will attach eight more stations from Baclaran to Bacoor, Cavite: Redemptorist, MIA, Asia World, Ninoy Aquino, Dr. Santos, Las Piñas, Zapote and Niog and would lessentravel time from Cavite to Baclaran and vice versa to less than 30 minutes. 
 
The said project is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and is part of President Duterte’s Build, Build, Build program and would help solve traffic congestion in Aguinaldo Highway from Coastal road and other affected thoroughfares in the south.
 
It will also give an alternative mode of transportation to the resident commuters in Parañaque, Las Piñas and Cavite area. (Ruel Francisco, PIA-Cavite)
