Improved coordination urged for P5-B CDO flood control project

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- Mayor Oscar Moreno called for improved coordination Wednesday among all agencies and contractors involved in the PHP5.5-billion flood risk management project for Cagayan de Oro River.

During a meeting with project managers, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and contractors at his office, Moreno voiced his concerns over the absence of representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Moreno questioned whether the design and works for the project's third component involving the construction of a dike and embankment at the Nazareth-Macasandig site is being coordinated with the DPWH.

He also called on the project management committee to coordinate with City Hall's Housing Department for the relocation of the settlers to be affected by the multi-billion peso flood control project.

“The coastal road project in the village of Gusa here took 20 years to complete. I call for better coordination and collaboration so we can expedite the early completion of the project during my watch,” Moreno said, warning that prolonged delays will only result in rising project costs. (PNA)
