It was held at the Robinson’s Place, Tacloban City in time for the celebration of the 121st Independence Day and the Tacloban City Fiesta celebrated every 30th of June.

DTI officer-in-charge Regional Director Celerina Bato in an interview said, “We took into consideration the month of June for the Bahandi Fair because we have anticipated a huge flock of buyers in time for the city’s festivities wherein a lot of visitors are coming to the city.”

Bato added that the success of the trade fair was also attributed to the numerous assistance and programs extended by the DTI and other partner agencies such as product and packaging development, branding and marketing, entrepreneurial trainings, innovation of designs and basic accounting, among others.

"The products exhibit had also the goal of expanding access to domestic and national markets, thereby helping alleviate poverty through inclusive economic growth in the Eastern Visayas region," she said.

Some 58 exhibitors coming from the six provinces of Region 8 joined the fair, showcasing new and improved products like processed food, wearables and  homestyle industries.

The Regional Bahandi Trade Fair is part of the National Bahandi Trade Fair regularly held every October, of which this year is set on October 3-7 at the SM Megamall in Manila.

All exhibitors in the region are expected to join on said national event and are ready to conquer the flourishing market. (LDL/GTT/PIA-8, Leyte)
