Car painter falls in drug buy-bust

COTABATO CITY – Lawmen arrested a car painter during a drug sting operation here Friday night and seized PHP30,000 worth of suspected shabu.

Capt. Rustom Pastolero, city police station 2 commander, identified the suspect as Aristo Abolencia, 40, of Notre Dame Village, Barangay Rosary Heights 8, this city.

Pastolero said police elements, backed by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, launched the buy-bust at 6 p.m.

“Abolencia was surprised that he was dealing with a police poseur-buyer,” he said, adding that the suspect has long been listed as a big-time drug peddler in the area.

Seized from Abolencia were nine sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP30,000; drug paraphernalia; and two mobile phones he was using in illegal drug transactions.

The suspect, who was being locked up at the police station 2, is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
