RMFB9, ZSPPO receive gold award for proficiency

ZAMBOANGA CITY, July 31 (PIA)- The Philippine National Police (PNP) awarded both the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB-9) of Zamboanga City and Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office (ZSPPO) the highly-coveted  Gold Eagle Award.

The RMFB-9 and ZSPPO were conferred proficient status after accomplishing the requirements of the Proficiency stage of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Peace and Order Agenda for Transformation and Upholding the Rule of Law (P.A.T.R.O.L.) Plan 2030 on Monday, July 29,  at Police Regional Office 9, Camp Col. Romeo Abendan here.

PNP Directorial Chief LtGen. Camilo Cascolan awarded the trophies during  the ceremony. Cascolan, the event’s guest of honor and speaker,  said the conferment and  awarding ceremony of PRO9’s proficient subordinate units is a mandate of the PNP in their continuous monitoring and evaluation of PNP P.A.T.R.O.L Plan 2030.

RMFB-9 had the highest proficiency rating in the entire Western Mindanao region with 96.4 percent while the ZSPPO got 95.4 percent.

The police offices in Isabela City, Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga del Norte were also conferred with Silver Eagle awards.

“We assess the overall performance not only the units and offices of the national headquarters but all PNP units and offices across the country based on the accomplishment and the set targets of their strategic initiatives,” Cascolan announced.

He said the proficiency stage is the third component of the Performance Governance System (PGS) before a PNP unit could get an authority to proceed and to institutionalize all its processes and tools for its transformation program.

Colonel Redentor Retusto, ZSPPO provincial director said, “I attribute the unit’s success to the collaborative efforts of the men and women of ZSPPO and the stakeholders, more particularly the Provincial Advisory Council who help the check and balance in the works of our men in uniform.”

“The ZSPPO personnel will be spurred  to work doubly hard in order to successfully attain ‘institutionalization,’ the last stage of PGS,” Retusto concluded.

The PNP PGS consists of four stages: Initiation, Compliance, Proficiency and Institutionalization with the ultimate goal of addressing organizational dysfunctions and improve the quality of the delivery of police services in the country. (ALT/GCC/PIA-Zamboanga del Sur)
