COTABATO CITY -- A former police officer and his companion were arrested following a drug buy-bust operation in Parang, Maguindanao on Saturday.

Lt. Colonel Ibrahim Jambiran, chief of the Parang police office, identified those arrested as Amirhassim Imam Dimacompas, 30, and former patrolman Bacore Zacaria, 28, both of Barangay Poblacion 2, Parang, Maguindanao.

Jambiran said Zacaria, a member of Police Regional Office–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO-BARMM), was absent without official leave (AWOL) until his arrest.

Elements of the BARMM police’s Regional Mobile Force Battalion and Philippine Drug Enforcer Agency (PDEA)-BARMM assisted the Parang police agents in the operation.

Seized from the suspects were five sachets of suspected shabu and the PHP500 marked money.

The two, who have been in the watch list of PDEA-BARMM, are now detained at the Parang police custodial facility.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against them. (PNA)
