LUNA, Isabela, Oct. 31 (PIA) – The municipality of Luna was declared by the Regional Oversight Committee on drug clearing chaired by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as drug-cleared after it successfully met all the requirements set by the committee.

The drug-cleared declaration was held on Oct. 28 at the town's municipal hall attended by PDEA, Police Regional Office 2, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), LGU – Isabela and town officials of Luna.

Luna is already the sixth LGU in Isabela declared as drug-cleared after the towns of Sta. Maria, Delfin Albano, Burgos, Aurora and San Guillermo.

Luna Mayor Jaime Atayde said the joint efforts of the police and local officials including the barangay officials and the people of Luna have resulted in the attainment of drug-cleared municipality status.

Meanwhile, P/Capt. Joseph Jonathan Binayug, Luna Police Station chief, said they will continue to monitor and guard the town from people or groups who want to conduct illegal drug activities in the town.

"We will ensure that no one will be involved in the drug trade and use again in Luna," Binayug said.

“The challenge for us law enforcers is to maintain our status as drug-cleared, we assure the people of Luna to continue in anti-illegal operations to thwart any group or people to enter the locality to conduct illegal drug activities,” Binayug added.

The chief of police has called on all Luna residents to report to the police station any illegal activites in their area to make the locality peaceful and orderly to live in. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
