QC bares traffic rerouting scheme for Undas 2019

QUEZON CITY, Oct. 30 (PIA)—The Task Force for Transport and Traffic of the Quezon City government laid out a traffic rerouting scheme for motorists who plan to visit cemeteries during All Saints Day and All Souls Day.

Mayor Joy Belmonte ordered newly formed Task Force for Transport and Traffic led by Atty. Ariel Inton to oversee the smooth implementation of a traffic scheme to ensure orderly flow of traffic in the areas leading to the Manila North Cemetery, Eternal Garden Memorial Park, Baesa Cemetery, Novaliches Cemetery, Himlayang Pilipino, and San Juan Cemetery.

“Inilatag na namin ang plano para hindi maabala ang ating mga residente sa kanilang pagbisita sa mga namapayapang mahal sa buhay," Belmonte said.

Belmonte also ordered personnel from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS), and Barangay Public Safety Officers (BPSO) be assigned at barangays near the cemeteries to assist in traffic and security efforts in the area.

Emergency measures

The QC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office will deploy Emergency Response Preparedness Team in Incident Command Centers located in (1) Mindanao cor. Quirino Highway, (2) Himlayan Cemetery, and (3) Manila North Cemetery.

Ambulances and rescue vehicles will also be on standby, furthermore, medical station will be available at the Bagbag Cemetery, Holy Cross Cemetery, Baesa Cemetery, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, and Novaliches Cemetery to provide first aid treatment to people who may suffer minor ailments while visiting their departed relatives in the cemetery.

Following are traffic rerouting scheme that will be implemented in Quezon City:

Manila North Cemetery

1. Trucks and buses coming from Balintawak area along A. Bonifacio Avenue and heading toward Manila shall turn left to Sgt. Rivera Street, right D. Tuazon Street, right Calamba Street going to Manila.

2. Trucks and buses going back to the point of origin shall enter Ma. Clara, left Banawe Street, left Sgt. Rivera Street then turn right to A. Bonifacio Avenue to its point of destination.

3. Private vehicles and PUJs, including taxi cabs, coming from Balintawak area heading toward Manila shall enter Mayon Street, which is a one-way street from Del Monte Avenue to Sct. Alcaraz Street, turn right to Retiro Street, turn left to Dr. Alejos Street, turn right to Don Manuel Agregado Street across Blumentritt.

4. In going back to its point of origin, it shall go straight Retiro Street, which is one-way street from Blumentritt Extension to Mariveles Street, turn left to CDC Street, turn left to Angelo Street, turn right to Sct. Alcaraz, turn left to Speaker Perez, turn left to Del Monte Avenue, turn right to A. Bonifacio Avenue then to Balintawak.

5. PUJ and private vehicles including taxicabs, coming from the general direction of San Francisco Del Monte, along Del Monte Avenue, shall turn left to Mayon Street and follow route from Del Monte Avenue mentioned above.

The transportation task force noted that a partial closure at 4 a.m. on Friday (November 1) will be implemented at the outermost lane westbound of A. Bonifacio Avenue from Mayon-Del Monte and A. Bonifacio intersection up to Calavite Street for pedestrians.

Parking areas will be made available to motorists along the streets of Ipo, Gen. Tinio, Abao, Labo and Bulusan while there would be no parking along the outermost lane northbound of A. Bonifacio Avenue from C-3 to Calavite Street.

Eternal Garden Memorial Park

Eternal Garden Memorial Park

1. All vehicles will be allowed to enter the cemetery using Leland Drive and they will exit using Baesa Gate.

2. One way entrance on all vehicles coming from Reparo Service Road to Bagong Barrio Gate and Service Road of NDR to NLEX as entrance.

Maxima Drive will be closed starting 2:00 a.m. on Friday (November 1) and will serve as exit to Quirino Highway. Leland Drive will be open and will serve to incoming vehicles.

The left side of the entrance of the cemetery will be available as parking area. Meanwhile, there will be no parking both sides along the stretch of Quirino Highway and along Leland Drive and Maxima Street.

Parokya ng Pagkabuhay Cemetery/ Bagbag

Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the cemetery.

Parking will be at the left side of King Alexis Street coming from Kingspoint Street. Vehicles will be prohibited from parking on both sides along the stretch of Quirino Highway and Kingspoint Street.

Holy Cross Memorial Park

1. Entry point of all vehicles will be at the back of Green Heights Subdivision and will exit at P. dela Cruz Street all the way to Quirino Highway

One side parking is allowed inside the cemetery. Meanwhile, there would be no parking both sides along the stretch of Quirino Highway and Green Heights and P. Dela Cruz Street.

Novaliches Cemetery

1. Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the cemetery, vehicles coming Gen. Luis will turn right at Doña Isaura and will use Sarmiento Street as exit to Quirino Highway.

2. Vehicles going to Caloocan North, Green Fields 3 coming from Quirino Highway shall take Susano Road, on the way to BF/Bagumbong, Caloocan City.

One side parking will be available at Millionaires Subdivision. Vehicles are not allowed, however, to park on both sides of Gen. Luis Street, from Susano Road to Doña Isaura Street.

Himlayang Pilipino

1. Entry point of all vehicles will be at Himlayan Road and will exit at the back using Philand Drive Subdivision. Another exit point to use is the St. Anthony School Road leading to NAPOCOR Village.

Parking areas will also be set near the office of Himlayan, near Emilio Jacinto Shrine, and along Fensjuio Park. Parking is not allowed along the stretch of Tandang Sora Avenue and along Himlayan Road leading to the cemetery. (PIA-NCR/QC PAISD)
