RDRRMC-2 all set for 'Undas'

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Oct 29 (PIA) - - Members of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) region 2 have already laid their contingency and response plans in observance of the All Saints and All Souls Days in the region.

Civil Defense Regional Director Dante Balao said the local DRRM councils, rescue teams and volunteers are already alerted to effect public order, security and safety in the different municipalities, especially in the cemeteries.

The Philippine National Police has assigned security forces in the cemeteries and other places that may draw crowd in Undas observance. Medical teams from the Department of Health and Rural Health Units will also establish medical stations, together with standby firemen and other volunteer groups.

The Department of Public Works and Highways have also issued advisories to travellers on areas where there are ongoing re-blocking, rehabilitation and constructions that may affect traffic flows.

The Philippine Coastguard will also deploy personnel in beaches and seaports. They will might effect gale warning which will prohibit sea crafts and vessels to venture out into the sea in the event of unpleasant weather conditions.

“We also request the public to cooperate with the officials assigned in the different cemeteries to enable a secured, safe and orderly observance of the Undas,” Balao said.

He added that the PNP issued an advisory prohibiting visitors in the cemeteries to bring deadly weapons, liquor, sound systems and other things that may induce unwanted incidents while visiting their love ones.

He further said all teams that are manning the operation centers in the different areas are now on blue alert status but it will be elevated into red alert on November 1 up to November 3. The alert status will be downgraded into blue alert on November 4 and will be lifted on November 5. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
