Cloudy, isolated rains over most of PH Thursday

MANILA – Most parts of the archipelago will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers on Thursday.

In its 4 a.m. weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said the low-pressure area (LPA) embedded in the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is affecting the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao.

The LPA, last eyed at 855 kilometers east southeast of Davao City, still has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression.

The ITCZ will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.

On the other hand, Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands, will continue to experience isolated light rains due to the northeasterly surface windflow.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

Ezra Bulquerin, PAGASA weather specialist, said rain showers may likely be experienced in the afternoon or evening.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds will blow over extreme Northern Luzon, where coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Moderate winds will prevail over the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao. Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA)
