NorMin records first case of health staff positive for COVID-19

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, April 30 (PIA) – Department of Health (DOH)-10 Regional Director Adriano P. Suba-an said in his report during the Northern Mindanao Task Force for COVID-19 full council meeting that a health personnel tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19), the first case of a health worker infected with the disease in the region.

According to Dr. Suba–an, the infected personnel got the COVID-19 from a relative who also tested positive and died of COVID-19 whom the said health staff was taking care of.

While the case seems alarming, the Suba-an assures the public that the DOH personnel are doing all their best to protect all the frontliners from the threat of COVID-19 while they are taking care of the patients suspected or confirmed infected by the said virus.

Meanwhile, Sub-an also announced that another set of deliveries of PPEs had arrived and some were delivered in the warehouse of the Office of Civil Defense and the others in the DOH warehouse. These will be distributed to the various hospitals in the region.

Aside from the measures that the government is doing to flatten the curve of COVID-19, the public is still being encouraged to take part in this battle by staying at home and observing the protocols set by the Inter Agency Task Force such as physical distancing and proper handwashing.
