GCQ opens essential businesses in Capiz

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, May 24 (PIA) -- Capiz Governor Esteban Evan B. Contreras said that the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) has paved way among essential businesses to open their operation and employ some of their employees.

This was disclosed by Contreras during an episode of “Mugstoria Ta!,” an online digital media program hosted by Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) Assistant Secretary  Jonji Y. Gonzales.Mugstoria

“It is helping the economic sector,” Contreras noted, adding that some constituents aren't now dependent on government assistance with employment starting up as some businesses reopen ventures.

The chief provincial executive was with Antique Gov. Rhodora Cadiao, Samar Province 2nd District Representative Sharee Tan and Ormoc City mayor Richard Gomez in the May 20 episode of online program.

Capiz was placed under GCQ since May 1 through Executive Order No. 16 issued by Contreras on April 29 after the National Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases excluded Capiz as among the places subject to extended Enhanced Community Quarantine in the country.

The GCQ status in the province was extended by the national IATF from May 16 to 31.

Contreras added that along with the extension of GCQ was the imposition of new normal protocols like mandatory wearing of face masks, social distancing and sustained curfew hour implementation.

The easing out of restrictions has also resulted in the return to the province of Locally Stranded Individuals, resident aliens, OFWs and non-OFW repatriates.

All the returning Capiceños undergo the Rapid Diagnostic Test upon arrival at their respective hometowns and the 14-day quarantine procedures. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
