Pasig City crematorium, centralized quarantine facility ready for operation soon

PASIG CITY, May 12 (PIA) – The Pasig City Government is optimistic that the city’s crematorium and centralized quarantine facility will be ready for operation soon.

According to the Pasig Public Information Office, the city crematorium, located at the Pasig Cemetery (barracks) was inspected by the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, and is expected to be operational within the week.

The local government has expedited the project  in partnership with a private crematorium for a most cost-effective management of COVID-19 related deaths in the city.

Pasig City will also  open  the first phase of its centralized quarantine facility with four (4) buildings,  as soon the DOH gives the green light.

One building will be allocated for positive mild/asymptomatic patients, and another one will be for recovering patients. The two buildings can accommodate 30 patients.

“We will prepare and open the rest of the buildings as needed,” said Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto.

“We pray for the best, but in the event of our worst-case scenario, we can house up to 1,000 patients here,” Sotto added. (Pasig City/PIA-NCR)
