5 LSIs, 1 OFW tested positive for COVID-19 in CagVal

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, July 21 (PIA) - - Six individuals were tested positive for COVID-19 in the Cagayan Valley region as confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH) region 2 today.

Llexter Guzman, health education and promotions officer, said the total cases has scaled up to 236, in which 229 are the actual cases for Cagayan Valley while seven were listed for National Capital Region.

The new cases, he said, include CV 229 who is an 18-year-old male from Tuao Cagayan, a locally stranded individual (LSI) who had a travel history in Meycauayan, Bulacan. He is asymptomatic and now at the Local Government Unit's (LGU) quarantine facility.

CV 230 is a 63-year-old from San Mateo, Isabela a seafarer who had travel history in Cyprus, Egypt and Dubai. He is asymptomatic and now on home quarantine. CV 231 is 26-year-old male from Lal-lo, Cagayan, an LSI from Makati City. He is also asymptomatic and at the LGU quarantine facility.

CV 232 is a 36-year-old male from Piat, Cagayan, also LSI from Quezon City. He is also asymptomatic and now at the provincial quarantine facility of Cagayan at the Cagayan Sports Complex.

CV 233 is a 24-year-old male from Solana, Cagayan who had a travel history in Taguig City. He is also asymptomatic and now at the LGU's quarantine facility.

CV 234 is a 41-year-old male also from Solana, Cagayan who had a travel history in Caloocan City. He is also asymptomatic and on home quarantine.

Guzman said contact tracing is now being undertaken by the concerned local and health officials in the areas where the positive cases are listed.

He also reminded public to always practice the minimum health standards and follow protocols and guidelines set by the government to avoid community transmission. (MDCT/OTB/PIA-Cagayan)
