Rainy Saturday over southern Mindanao due to ITCZ

MANILA – Rains will pour over southern Mindanao on Saturday due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ). 

In its daily weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said there will be cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, Sarangani, General Santos City, and Davao Occidental brought by the ITCZ.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers mostly in the afternoon or evening brought by localized thunderstorms.

In its wind forecast, PAGASA said the western section of Luzon will experience light to moderate winds headed southwest to south, with slight to moderate coastal waters at 0.5 to 1.2 meters.

The rest of Luzon, it said, will have light to moderate winds going southeast to south, resulting in slight to moderate coastal waters at 0.5 to 1.2 meters.

The Visayas and Mindanao, meanwhile, will have light winds at southeast to variable headings, with slight coastal waters at 0.6 meter to 1 meter.

The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 25°C to 32 C; Legazpi City, 27°C to 33°C; Metro Cebu, 23°C to 32°C; Tacloban City, 27 °C to 32°C; Cagayan de Oro City, 24°C to 31°C; and Metro Davao, 26°C to 32°C. (PNA)
