RDRRMC-6 cites partners for support to COVID-19 response

ILOILO CITY, July 22 (PIA) – The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) Region VI cited government agencies and reservists who have been supporting the ongoing response operations against the effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas.

The citation plaques were handed out during the “Pasidungog sa Serbisyo Bato sa COVID-19” held recently at the parade grounds of the Philippine National Police Regional Office 6 here.

The event also served as a highlight of the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month this July.

Office of Civil Defense-6 Regional Director Jose Roberto Nuñez said the event aimed to “recognize various government agencies and reservists who gave their unwavering support and extended remarkable contributions” to the ongoing response operations in the Western Visayas Regional Task Force in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also cited at the event were a number of private sector and volunteer organizations who extended help to the response efforts of the task force.

Nuñez, chair the regional council and task force, led in handing in the plaques and certificates to the awardees during the “Pasidungog” wherein Usec. Ricardo Jalad conveyed a video inspirational message.

In his message, Nuñez said National Action Plan chief implementor Secretary Carlito Galvez, in his report to President Rodrigo Duterte, commended Western Visayas as one of the model regions where the necessary attributes that contribute to the success of the campaign against COVID-19 including the capabilities of local leaders exist.

He said the big part in the fight against the pandemic is our discipline as a people. “Let’s win this, let’s heal as one,” he said.

With Director Nuñez at the awarding of citations were Philippine National Police-6 Regional Director Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, and Army's 3rd Infantry Division Commander Major General Eric Vinoya, who is also the Vice Chairpersons of the regional council. (JBG/JSC/PIA6)
