4,033 LSIs are now home in Aklan

KALIBO, Aklan, Aug. 1 (PIA) – The province of Aklan has registered a total of 4,033 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) who are already in their respective municipalities, as of July 30, 2020, according to the latest advisory issued by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) here.

Based on the report of PHO-Aklan, from the total number of LSIs in the province, a total of 2,932 are already cleared from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) while 1,101 are still completing the 14-day mandatory quarantine and waiting for the results of their reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests.

From the 15 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Aklan, five of them are LSIs of whom one, tagged as LSI  No. 1, had fully recovered from the disease as she tested negative in her repeat RT-PCR Test and completed the isolation period.

Meanwhile, LSI No. 2 who was tested positive on July 26 and LSIs No. 3, 4, and 5 on July 30 are the remaining COVID-19 confirmed cases of the province.

All of the COVID positive LSIs are quarantined at the facilities except LSI No. 5   who is under strict home isolation but will be transferred immediately in a facility for close monitoring.

As coronavirus cases continue to rise in the country, Aklan Governor Florencio T. Miraflores issued Executive Order 29-C Series of 2020 on July 22 not allowing individuals coming from high-risk areas to enter or pass Aklan.

However, pursuant to the advisory issued by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on lifting of the moratorium for inbound travel of LSIs in Western Visayas, returning Aklanons coming from Moderate and Low Risk areas shall be allowed entry in Aklan upon the presentation of required documents.

Such documents as stated in the EO are travel authority issued by the Joint Task Force COVID Shield, Certificate of Acceptance from the receiving local government unit with proper coordination with the barangay destination, and negative RT-PCR result issued by a Department of Health-Accredited Testing Laboratory.

Moreover, if Aklan is used as a means of passage in going to the point of destination within the region, a Certificate of Acceptance from their Provincial Government is required before they are allowed entry using the airport or sea port as means of ingress. (LTP/SQP/PIA-Aklan)
