Nolcom to remain proactive vs. Covid-19

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) has vowed to remain aggressive and proactive in the fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) amid the increasing number of cases in Central Luzon.

Brig. Gen. Henry Doyaoen, Nolcom Deputy Commander, in a meeting with Office of the Civil Defense-3 regional director Maria Theresa Escolano held at the Nolcom Headquarters in Camp Aquino, Tarlac on Friday, committed the command’s active full support against Covid-19 pandemic.

“The leadership of Northern Luzon Command assured that we will remain aggressive and proactive in the fight against Covid-19 in the region and that we will adhere to our commitment to provide active support to our partner agencies and the local government units (LGUs) in their efforts to prevent further spread of the virus”, Doyaoen said in a statement.

The meeting, attended by the representatives of some member agencies of Central Luzon’s Regional Task Force against Covid-19 and the commanders of the subordinate units under Nolcom through video teleconference, was arranged to discuss issues to enhance Covid-19 response and prevent further spread of the disease in the region.

Topics discussed included the enhancement of coordination and information sharing between member agencies and LGUs with the AFP units on the ground, as well as security issues that will undermine the effective distribution of Covid-19 vaccines.

During the meeting, the Nolcom, through the Office of the Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Civil-Military Operations, designated liaison officers to every cluster of the task force.

The liaison officers will serve as the focal point of coordination by the AFP between the member agencies of the task force and the LGUs concerned.

Escolano lauded Nolcom for its immediate response to the issues, saying that “your decisive and prompt response to the matters at hand is a testament of your professionalism and firm commitment to serve the Filipino people at a time when you are needed the most.”

Doyaoen said "unity of efforts between concerned agencies and active participation of the community is a must for us to contain the effects of Covid-19.” (PNA)
