Pateros allots P20M for COVID-19 vaccines

CALOOCAN CITY, Jan. 13 (PIA) -- The Municipality of Pateros will allot 20 million pesos budget for COVID-19 vaccination of its residents.

"Ito ay kinuha natin sa maliit na pondo na ginagamit po natin taon taon para sa bayan ng Pateros," Pateros Mayor Ike Ponce said in an nterview with DZMM Teleradyo on Tuesday.

Mayor Ike emphasized that Pateros is still at the stage of online registration of the free vaccines for its residents.

"Sa ngayon, ang nagpaparegister ay wala pang isang libo maliban sa mga frontliners na talagang nakalista na sa atin at yung mga priorities na kailangan natin bigyan ng bakuna," Ponce said.

He said the local government is targetting up to 50,000 residents for the program, however, he said there are those who are "choosy" in terms of the kind of vaccine to be provided, so they are carefully studying it.

"Ang target namin na mabakunahan dito ay mga 50,000 na katao kung mayroon kami na 80,000 na residente," Ponce said.

He added that these numbers might be lowered since they cannot force everyone to have the COVID-19 vaccine.

"We have embarked into a massive education campaign sa bakuna dahil ito ay may dalang fear sa tao," Ponce said.

The Municipality of Pateros also welcomed the support being extended by the national governemnt with its National COVID-19 Vaccination Program. (PIA-NCR)
