May 4 is special non-working holiday in City of Ilagan

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, May 4 (PIA) - The Local Chief Executive of this premiere city of Isabela has declared May 4, 2021 as a special non-working holiday in the city in celebration of its 335th founding anniversary.

City of Ilagan Mayor Josemarie L. Diaz signed Executive Order No. 026, Series of 2021 declaring a holiday in the city, citing historical accounts forming part of the journal and records of the province of Isabela that Ilagan was founded on May 4, 1686 during the Spanish regime.

He said that by virtue of then Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 154, Series of 2002, enacting General Ordinance No. 111, Series of 2002, May 4 of every year is declared as the “Aggaw Nac Ilagan.”

“Ilagan will be celebrating its 335th founding anniversary on May 4, 2021 which presents and opportunity that rekindle the glory and victory of the people of Ilagan historically, culturally and politically, allowing us Ilaguenos to trace back our birthdays and define our collective achievements during the past 335 years,” Diaz said.

He said Ilagueños draw strength from each other in order to fulfill the inherent roles towards a Livable City for and dedicated on behalf of the future Ilagueño generations.

“In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and to ensure the safety of every Ilagueño, the city government enjoins all constituents to celebrate privately and solemnly with prayers and hope for a safe and Covid-19 -free City of Ilagan,” Diaz said. (BME/MGE - PIA-2/Isabela)
