'Fabian', monsoon rains boost Pantabangan Dam's water reserve

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – Rains brought by Typhoon Fabian and the southwest monsoon in the last few days have boosted the water reserve of Pantabangam Dam in this province.

Engineer Rosalinda Bote, department manager of the National Irrigation Administration-Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation System (NIA-UPRIIS), said in an interview on Sunday the rains allowed them to fill up the reservoir.

"Malaking bagay ang pagu-ulan, time para maka- fill-up kami at the same time ay hindi din kami magre-release (The rains are a big help. It is time for us to fill-up and at the same time, we do not have to release)," she said.

As of 7:45 a.m. Sunday, the water elevation of Pantabangan Dam was at 183.09 meters, which is 37.91 meters away from its spilling level of 221 meters.

On Monday last week, the water level was at 182.24 meters, records showed. (PNA)
