LUNGSOD NG BUTUAN, Enero 2 (PIA) - Para mas maprotektahan ang Agusan River na pinakamalaking wetlands sa Caraga region, nagpulong ang iba't-ibang ahensya ng gobyerno sa pangunguna ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) at ng pribadong sektor para bumuo ng plano na makakatulong sa pagsalba rito mula sa posibleng pagkasira. Malaking parte ng Agusan River ang Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary, na idineklarang protected area sa Agusan del Sur ng dating pangulong Fidel V. Ramos. LTO: 6-digit temp vehicle plates banned since 2017

PBBM sees no need for special powers to curb inflation

MANILA – There is no need to ask for special powers to ease inflation, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said Wednesday, noting that several interventions are already in place to manage the prices of basic commodities. Marcos made the remark a day after the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reported that the country’s headline inflation could surpass the 9 percent level in February because of high prices of cooking gas and key food items. “I do not think that it is necessary to ask for special powers,” he said in a chance interview on the sidelines of an event at the Rizal Park, when asked if he is considering asking Congress to grant him special powers to curb inflation. “I already have the power to declare an emergency and to control the prices of commodities. So, I don't think there's any need for more than that. That is efficient,” he added. DOLE NV opens over 3,000 TUPAD slots anew

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, March 29 (PIA) - A total of 3,188 slots for Tulong Pangkabuhayan para sa mga Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) are up for grabs through the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) this year. Gerry Nicolas, acting Labor and Employment Officer said various fund allocations have been poured for its TUPAD in the province. The various fund allocations are as follows: P3.190 million with 580 slots in all LGUs; P4.5 million with 827 slots in the towns of Kasibu, Alfonso Castaneda and Bayombong; P7.98 million with 1,451 slots in 15 towns; and P1.8 million with 331 slots for 14 LGUs. "These funding allocations for our TUPAD program totaling to P17.539 million are still open for job applicants. Interested applicants must contact their Public Employment Service Officers (PESOs) in their respective municipalities," Nicolas said.
