Southwest monsoon brings scattered rains Wednesday

MANILA -- The prevailing southwest monsoon (habagat) will bring scattered rain showers over some areas in Luzon Wednesday.

In its weather advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said monsoon rains will be experienced over the provinces of Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan due to the southwest monsoon.

In Metro Manila, the rest of Ilocos Region, Central Luzon and the provinces of Benguet, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro and Palawan, light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will prevail due to localized thunderstorms.

Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao region will have cloudy skies caused by the trough of a low pressure area.

Meanwhile, a tropical depression was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 3 a.m. Wednesday.

It was last observed at 760 kilometers west of northern Luzon with maximum winds of 55 kms. per hour (kph) near the center, and gusts of up to 70 kph. It is moving northwest.

Temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 24-32 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 25-33 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 16-22 degrees Celsius; SBMA 24-29 degrees Celsius; Lipa City 22-32 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 26-32 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao-23-30 degrees Celsius. (PNA)
