2 Mindoro cops hailed for winning golds in China tourney

MANILA -- Two lady cops were lauded by the provincial government of Oriental Mindoro for winning taekwondo gold medals in an international competition in China.

Cpl. Katleen Joy A. Dilay and Pat. Zayra Q. Acosta from Mindoro captured golds in the women’s team poomsae event of the 18th World Police and Fire Games held at the Century City International Exhibition Center in Chengdu, China from Aug. 8 to Aug.18, 2019.

Dilay and Acosta also snatched bronze (kyuragi) and silver (kyuragi), respectively, according to the Oriental Mindoro Public Information Office (PIO).

“Kinikilala naman ng pamahalaang panlalawigan ang malaking karangalang ito na naiambag ng dalawang magiting na police officers sa mga Mindoreño (The provincial government is recognizing the great honor our brave police officers have given to the people of Mindoro),” the statement posted on Oriental Mindoro PIO Facebook page read.

The two police officers paid a courtesy call on Governor Humerlito A. Dolor before they left for Chengdu.

The World Police and Fire Games is an Olympic-style competition with 10,000 athletes representing law enforcement, firefighters, and officers from corrections, probation, border protection, immigration and customs from over 70 countries. (PNA)
