BIDA campaign launched in Tagum City
DAVAO DEL NORTE, Aug. 3 (PIA) – The City of Tagum LGU has launched “BIDA Solusyon sa COVID19” campaign today (Aug. 3) at the New City Hall Atrium to further the city’s COVID19 prevention efforts as cases surge throughout the country.
The BIDA Solusyon sa COVID19 is a Department of Health (DOH) campaign that promotes the active role of individuals in the fight against COVID-19 by practicing the behaviors indicated in the 4 letters of BIDA: Bawal walang mask, I-sanitize ang mga kamay; I-was hawak sa mga bagay; Dumistansya ng isang metro, and Alamin ang totoong impormasyon.
City Mayor Allan Rellon said that with the launching of this campaign, the city officially enforces the adoption of the necessary habits in order to stay away from COVID19.
“We will now start enforcing, we started already, but now in full force,” Rellon said.
Tagum is the first LGU in Region 11 to launch BIDA attended by officers of the Rotary Club of Tagum North, Rotary Club of Tagum Golden L.A.C.E.S., the Rotary Club of Tagum, the Kiwanis International of Tagum; representatives of malls and hospitals in Tagum, the police force, and the city government department heads.
Dr. Abdullah B. Dumama, Jr. Undersecretary of Health,Visayas-Mindanao Field Implementation Office, DOH, stressed the need of everyone’s participation in rolling out the campaign.
“Napakalaking problema ito kaya di ho pwedeng DOH lang, di pwedeng PIA lang, di pwedeng DILG lang, dapat po lahat ng tao lalong lalo na ang komunidad sa DOH, kami nap o bahala sa paggamot. Ang PIA, kayo na bahala sa impormasyon; ang DILG, sa pagpapatupad ng batas. Ang community ang may responsibilidad na i-implement ang BIDA (This is a big problem that’s why it can’t just be the DOH, or just the PIA, or just the DILG, it needs to be everyone, especially the community. The DOH, we’ll take care of treatment, the PIA, you take care of disseminating information, the DILG in enforcing the law, and the community is responsible to implement the BIDA),” he said.
The launching of BIDA in Tagum was initiated by the City Health Office (CHO) of Tagum supported by the Department of Health (DOH) XI and Philippine Information Agency (PIA) XI Information Center.
The “BIDA Solusyon sa COVID19” is a national campaign led by the Department of Health (DOH), on behalf of the Interagency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID), in coordination with the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
