Oaminal urges public to trust gov’t news on vaccine acquisition

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, Feb. 24 (PIA)--Ozamiz City Mayor Sancho Fernando Oaminal urged the public and Ozamiznons to trust the government on the country's acquisition of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 vaccines.

“We should be vigilant in processing the news through social media. We should only trust the reliable news agency in the government and let us continue the thrust of this administration by listening and understanding the explanation of the national government," he said.

During the Network Briefing News with Communications Sec. Martin Andanar, February 24, Oaminal seeks aid in proper information dissemination on COVID-19 Vaccination Program.

"With regard to vaccination, Ozamiz City is lacking in information campaigns but if there is proper dissemination, then we will not be having any problems once the vaccines will arrive,” the mayor added.

Oaminal reiterated the problem of fake news because people think that the vaccine is not safe and effective. “If there is hesitation it is brought by the fake news. Kung mayroon lang po tayong proper dissemination of information and good explanation, hindi po tayo talaga magkakaproblema sa pagpapaintindi sa mga tao (If we have proper dissemination of information and good explanation, there will be no problem in making people understand).”

The city government, he said, allocated an initial budget worth P50 million for the COVID-19 vaccines.

Oaminal also urges residents to observe self-discipline in fighting the adverse effects of COVID-19.

“To the people of Ozamiz, the most important thing is to practice self-discipline kasi lahat ng projects, programs at protocols na ipinatutupad ng (because the projects, programs and protocols implemented by the) national government can only be effective if we discipline ourselves. Let’s practice self-discipline so we can effectively address all the issues and challenges we are facing now,” Oaminal said. (SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
