Kayapa town promotes unity, cultural preservation thru IP Day

No increase in candles’ price - DTI 

DAGUPAN CITY, Oct. 31 (PIA) – In observation of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, or collectively known as “Undas,” the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Pangasinan announced that the suggested retail price (SRP) of candles did not increase and have retained their price since the latest SRP issued by the agency.Natalia Dalaten, officer-in-charge of DTI-Pangasinan, said the latest SRP of candles dated September 30 was issued to guide consumers especially this coming “Undas”.Dalaten said DTI monitors the price of candles as it is included in the list of nine basic necessities and 12 prime commodities mandated by the Price Act or Republic Act 7581.“Candles that are being monitored by DTI are those usually being used by consumers in times of calamities and emergencies, especially when there are instances that electricity are cut off,” Dalaten said.Dalaten said consumers may have the option to buy other kinds of candles for their dearly departed love ones aside from those…

US Embassy holds seminar for journalists on maritime security

DAGUPAN CITY, Oct. 31 (PIA) – The Public Affairs Section of the United States (US) Embassy in the Philippines conducted the 11th Media Seminar held at the Hotel Jen in Pasay City recently in celebration of World Maritime Day.

At least 30 private and government journalists in Manila and select provinces have been invited to participate in this year’s seminar which focused on reporting about maritime security issues.

In a message, Philip Roskamp, public affairs counselor of the US Embassy in the Philippines, said the Philippines is blessed with rich marine resources but is also under threat by human activities and natural calamities.

“As journalists, you have a critical role to play of educating the community about the importance of protecting marine resources,” Roskamp said.

6 barangays in Sta. Rosa City receive Seal of Good Local Governance

CITY OF STA. ROSA, Laguna, Oct. 30 (PIA)—The City Government of Santa Rosa and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) local office here recognized various barangays for their exemplary performance and demonstrating best practices in different areas of governance.

As part of the Local Government Month celebration, the DILG City of Santa Rosa and the city government conferred the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangay (SGLGB) to six barangays namely Labas, Tagapo, Dila, Dita, Sto. Domingo, and Pulong Sta. Cruz for passing the key assessment areas of the barangay-level SGLG.
